Verses collects nothing about you automatically. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. The only information that ever leaves your iPhone is a feedback message, and only if you choose to write one and tap send.
The passages you add, the words you've hidden, and your daily record of words hidden are saved in the app's own storage on your iPhone. They are never uploaded, shared, or seen by anyone but you.
If you delete Verses, this information is deleted with it.
Verses asks for microphone access only so it can follow along while you recite a passage aloud. Speech recognition is performed on your device using Apple's built-in speech framework.
Audio is not recorded, saved, or sent to any server — including mine. It is used momentarily to check the word you just spoke, then discarded. The microphone is active only while you are on the recitation screen and have started reciting.
Settings has a feedback screen. Nothing is sent from it until you write a message and tap send. When you do, these are submitted:
Nothing else is attached — not your passages, not your progress, not your practice record, and no identifier for your device or your copy of the app.
Feedback is delivered through Google Forms and lands in a private spreadsheet only I can see. Google handles it as their privacy policy describes. Your message is used to fix problems and improve the app, and your email only to reply to you. Neither is sold, shared, or used for advertising. If you'd rather not go through Google, email me directly at the address below instead.
Verses contains no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking software. Google Forms receives a feedback message only when you send one, as described above; apart from that, no third party receives information about you through this app.
The app uses one open-source software library for searching the built-in prayer collection. It runs entirely on your device and has no network access.
Verses is suitable for all ages. It collects nothing automatically, from children or anyone else. The feedback screen is the only place any information is sent, and only when someone deliberately writes and sends a message.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. If a future version of Verses ever collected anything beyond what is described above, that would be set out here clearly.
