Verses

Memorize Bahá'í prayers

Verses turns prayers you love into prayers you know by heart. Tap a word to hide it, read what's left aloud, and let your memory fill the gaps.

Getting started

Adding a prayer

Tap + on the library screen to browse the built-in collection — 473 prayers, all 153 of the Hidden Words, and quotations from Ruhi Book 1. Search for a phrase you half-remember, or browse by section. You can also paste in your own text: a quotation, a poem, a passage in any language.

Hiding words

Tap any word to hide it. Tap it again to bring it back. Long-press anywhere in the passage to hide or reveal all of it at once.

There's no right number to hide. Hide a few, read the passage aloud, and hide a few more the next time you return.

Long prayers

Longer prayers are divided into shorter passages. Swipe between them freely — nothing is locked, and you can work on any part in any order.

Reciting aloud

Tap the microphone to recite. Verses follows you one word at a time as you speak. Speech recognition runs entirely on your iPhone.

Questions

Do hidden words come back on their own?

No. A word stays hidden until you tap it to reveal it. Your progress is exactly what you set it to be.

Is my progress backed up?

Everything is stored on your device. If you delete the app, your passages and hidden words go with it.

The microphone isn't working

Check that Verses has microphone permission in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. Speech recognition also needs a quiet-ish room — it listens for one specific next word rather than guessing freely, so background noise affects it more than dictation would.

Can I add my own text?

Yes. Choose to paste your own text when adding a passage, then break it into chunks wherever the meaning breaks. Any language works.
